Gold, Crimson and Moonshine: Bamboos covering the Stupa

Myanmar, Yangon, Shwe Da Gon

The shape of the stupa is almost covered by the bamboo scaffolding.

Its summit only can be seen: the "umbrella" or "Htee", on top of which stands the globe, aand the "wind vane", also called "Nye Ma Ne", the place where the birds can't rest.

On the umbrella, thousands of small metal bells hang and move in the wind, dispersing in the air a celestial melody.

On the globe and the wind vane, a treasure: a number of jewels, precious stones offered in the past times by believers. 

At the base of the umbrella, another treasure for Myanmar people: bamboo sticks planted at the top of the scaffolding, holding flags. On each one of the flags, the five colours emitted by the aura of the Budha when reaching the Enlightenment.
