Green Tara is the most frequent representation of Tara; She is the One tibetan turn to with full confidence when they are in need of care, of help.
Loving Mother, Supreme Mother, Mother of the World, Universal Mother, Mother of All Buddhas, many are Her names....
In the sphere of symbols, Her color represents the wind, reason why She is also called « Tara, quick to act »: She acts at the speed of wind for the good of all who invoke Her. The way She stands, right leg partly stretched supports this symbol: She is ready to stand up and provide Her help.
Her left leg, folded against the body, demonstrate that She is not subject to any internal disturbance.
She is completely liberated from imperfections of Samsara, however She makes of it Her residence, to give asistance to those who face sufferings.
She acts on two levels: providing assistance within the present time, She reduces the difficulties and releases the pain; in the spiritual realm, She leads people to their own liberation of all sufferings.
With Her right hand, The Mudra of the Donation: providing all the accomplishments, ordinary and of higher order.
In Her left hand, thumb and ring finger are in contact: Mudra of Bestowing Refuge representing the union of the Means (leading to Enlightenment) and the Knowledge. The three other fingers, are the symbol of the Three Jewels: Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.
The Utpala Lotus (Night Lotus) She holds in hands releases its fragrance with the appearance of the moon.
It witnesses the Qualities which are completely accomplished in Her, as the flowers are fully bloomed.
